Are You Ready?

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

There is no doubt that Jesus will return to catch away those who are ready. He taught a parable of 10 virgins that relates to His return to catch away those who are ready. Five were wise and five were foolish. To become a virgin (pure) one must be born again. The wise virgins not only had their lamps lit (which represents one who is saved) but they also had an extra jar full of oil. The foolish had their lamps lit, but their jars were not full. This jar being full means they remained active in pursuing God and the things of God. The foolish were instead consuming their time with worldly things and therefore not actively pursuing God. These foolish virgins tried to get the wise virgins to give them some of their oil, but you can only get it through your relationship with God. The wise were ready for Christ’s return and went with Him when He came, but the foolish were left behind. Don’t be a foolish virgin who has accepted Christ and is not walking with God but chasing after the world. Be wise and ready for the Lord’s return by actively pursuing relationship with Him. Jesus is coming soon.

Complete In Christ

Colossians 1:28

Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

The word “perfect” means complete. It is not other people, things you own, nor your status in life that makes you complete. It is Jesus Christ and Him alone that makes your life complete, and that is why they preached Christ to everyone. When we try to find our worth in what we do, what other people think of us, or in what we have in the natural we are always going to feel incomplete, because in doing so we are trying to find our worth in the creation and not our Creator. It’s not a selfie you take that everyone likes, nor getting compliments on something you’ve accomplished that makes you who you are. It is Christ who makes us what we are, a new creation, once we have put our faith in Him and become born again. As long as you look to other things you will never be complete. So look to Jesus to find your true worth and identity in life, not the world, other people, nor things in this world, and you will have all that completes you.

Abide In The Word

John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

John 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

God’s Word will only help you to the degree that you hear, receive, and act upon it. God’s Word spoken brought into existence everything we see. There is nothing more powerful than the Word of God. His Word is a prevailing force. The word prevail means to prove more powerful than any opposing force, to be victorious. In Acts 19:20 scripture says that the Word continued to grow mightily and prevail. This was a result of the disciples teaching the people what God’s Word said. The more that Word grew and came alive in the hearts of those who heard it, the more that Word prevailed in and through their lives. To get God’s Word in us we must hear it, speak it, meditate on it, and live it. For those who do, this prevailing force, the Word of God, will work in and through your life; proving itself more powerful than any opposing force and it will help you to live a victorious life.

God Desires To Bless Us

Luke 5:4-6

4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your NETS for a catch.”

5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the NET.”

6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.

God is always willing to do more than we realize. What a powerful story of how Jesus wanted to bless Peter for allowing Him to use his boat to preach the gospel to the crowd gathered on the shore. After fishing all night and catching nothing Jesus tells them right where to drop their NETS to catch fish. Peter responds telling Him they had fished all night catching nothing as if to say I am the fisherman, you are the preacher, I know how to fish. But Jesus knows how to do all things well. Peter being skeptical just lets down one NET. Of course they catch so much fish they have to call for their friends boat to help. God is only hindered in blessing us to the degree we can believe. He is only limited by our faith, not His willingness or ability. God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we ask or think. It is up to us, what we can believe God for, so use your faith and obey His Word.

Release The Past

Philippians 3:13-14

13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

A key to moving forward into all God has for your life is to forget what is behind. If you hold on to the past you will remain there. In the Old Testament the first generation of the children of Israel once delivered out of Egypt kept looking back to Egypt and they did not go forward into the promise land God had for them. Only Joshua and Caleb let go of the past and were therefore able to enter the promise God had awaiting them. Stop thinking about, talking about, and focusing on your past and what is behind you. Stop seeing the person you used to be and start seeing in scripture who God has made you to be. Leave the past, yours and others where it belongs, behind you. Hold no grudges, forgive everyone including yourself for wrongs done. Recognize the power of the blood of Jesus is enough to overcome anything of the past. When you let go of the past you can then move forward by faith into what God has promised for you. Holding on to your past only hinders you ability to move forward into a new life.

Living A Transformed Life

7215AEE8-A81D-4381-8202-1BF835316CCF

Romans 12:1-2
1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Once you are truly born again if you want to live the God-kind of life your Heavenly Father has for you, there must be a renewing of your mind. You don’t have to be conformed to the world’s way of living in fear, sickness, disease, poverty, and lack. Jesus came to give you life and that more abundantly (John 10:10). Think of this new life opportunity like a caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly. You see the word “transformed” above is where we get the word metamorphose. This change does not take place without the renewing of the mind. Renewing of the mind begins by going through the New Testament and finding out who you now are in Christ. Begin to confess who the Bible says you are, no matter how you feel. You are a new creation in Christ, the old man has passed away and a new man has come. You are the healed of the Lord, God has blessed you and is your provider. You must also begin to live what you learn in following after our example, Jesus our Savior. Get in a good church where they teach you these truths, not a bunch of man-made religion. Christianity is not a religion, but a new life to be lived. A brand new life awaits for all who are born again, and will renew their minds to the new you through the Word of God.

Brought Near To God

Ephesians 2:13

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

No believer should ever feel like God is far from them, for we have been reunited with God through Christ Jesus. We are one spirit with the Lord and He will never leave you nor forsake you. The sin nature that stood between us and God has been washed away by the blood of Jesus. It was this sin nature that separated us from God, and all that He is. Jesus said that for those who put their faith in Him that He and the Father would come and abide in them. He has done so by sending the Holy Spirit to come and live in us. This is one of the reasons we no longer have any reason to live in fear, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. The devil and all his demons are no match for God, and He lives within every born again believer. So there is no reason to live in fear of the powers of darkness, nor should you ever feel lonely, for all who have received salvation have the Spirit of God living in them. Don’t fall for these deceptive lies, instead walk in the realty of the truth by declaring to yourself that greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world.
