Healed

Matthew 8:17

This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”

Jesus at Calvary carried away for us both our sicknesses and our diseases. The prophecy of Isaiah 53:4-5 has been fulfilled. All we have to do is receive by faith in our hearts what He has already done for us. Healing is not initiated in the physical, it is spiritual and it manifests in the physical body. Sickness did not come from the physical realm because there was no sickness in the beginning of creation until a fallen spirit named satan came and led man into rebellion against God. This opened the door for sickness to come through satan who is a spirit, not a physical being. Healing is a part of the salvation package purchased for us by the stripes Jesus bore in His body. We know therefore it is God’s will to heal us. Jesus Himself was anointed by God and went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Many often question if it is God’s will to heal them, but Jesus proved it is His will for us to be healed. No one who came to Jesus in faith for healing was ever turned away. Jesus healed everyone who came to Him in faith. So it is today, for He has not changed. If we come in faith believing in our heart we receive when we pray, we shall have what He has purchased for us.

World Overcomer

John 16:33

I’ve told you this so that my peace will be with you. In the world you’ll have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world.”

Troubles or storms of life come to all. Jesus did not tell us this so that we would be troubled by them. He has already overcome the world’s troubles you will face. Jesus taught us that if you come to Him and hear what He says but do not do what He says, you will be like a man who built a house on sand. Storms would come and when they do the house would fall. But if you come to Him and hear what He says and you do what He has said, you will be like a man who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock. When the storms come the house would not only stand, it would not be shaken. In this fallen world you will face trouble or storms of life, but the person who has come to Jesus, heard what He has said, and is a doer of the Word and not just a hearer of the Word; they have built on the rock and are walking by faith not by sight. It is not up to God if we overcome, for He has already provided victory for us, it is up to us. Spend time with the Lord, listen to what He has said in His Word, and be a doer of the Word. If you do you will not be defeated.

Abide In Him

John 15:7

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

This is one of the most powerful truths in the Bible. Think about what Jesus said here. To abide means to remain one with. This begins when we become born again. If we do not deny Christ we remain one with Him. But His Word must also abide in us, or remain one with us. Another way to say this is the Word of Christ must prevail over us. It must become settled in our hearts so that we believe the Word above all else. God’s Word is a prevailing force in the earth for His Word created everything, therefore everything is subject to His Word. When His Word prevails over us and is settled in our hearts, we will speak in line with the Word of God and not in line with the world. For His Word to abide in us (in our hearts) we must have our minds renewed to the Word of God. This is achieved by attending to, meditating on, studying, and speaking God’s Word over you. When His Word becomes settled in your heart it will come alive in you. Remain one with Jesus and let His Word prevail over you, becoming one with that Word, and you shall ask what you desire and it shall be done through the prevailing Word of God.

Abide In Him

John 15:4

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

To abide in Christ means to remain as one with Him. We are to bear the fruit of Christ, walking in the example He has given us. In Matthew 16:24 Jesus said if anyone desires to come after Him we must deny self, take up our cross, and follow Him. For years I spent most of my time teaching people to deny self and take up their cross, but I missed the most important part. Do you have a desire to follow after Jesus? Without that desire you won’t deny self nor take up your cross. The word “desire” means to be resolved or determined to fulfill a purpose, to delight in. If you want to abide in Christ you must have a determined purpose to follow Christ. It is what you take delight in, meaning you have this resolve with a “want to” attitude, not a “have to” attitude. That desire will help you deny self, the old nature when it becomes difficult to do so. That desire will cause you to take up your cross, to fulfill God’s will for your life when the old fleshly nature wants to do something else instead. Cultivate a desire in your heart to abide in Jesus and you will bear much fruit for Him.

Rightly Discerning The Lord’s Body

John 6:56

“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.”

When we receive communion we are reminded of the Lord’s body and the blood that was shed for us. Scripture teaches us that if we do not rightly discern the Lord’s body that this is the reason why many are weak, sick, and some die early. We discern the Lord’s body three ways:

1. Acknowledge the stripes of Jesus that paid for your bodily healing. With the stripes that wounded Him, we are healed and made whole.

2. Do not speak evil of other believers for they are a part of the body. If we slander and gossip about other believers, we are speaking harm to ourselves.

3. Recognize who you are in Christ Jesus and do not belittle yourself for you are His body whom He has purchased. When we do not recognize who we are in Christ, we will be hindered in receiving what we have in Christ.

So to walk in health and healing we must learn to discern the Lord’s body. When we do we can experience the benefit of what Jesus purchased for us.

New View

Colossians 3:1

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

All who are in Christ should change their focus in life. We should get our focus off of the natural world and get focused on the realm of the spirit, putting our focus on God and the things of the spirit. Your focus in life will determine the outcome of how you live. Looking to God’s Word helps us change this view of life. Doing so will help us to see things from God’s perspective. The key to getting this new view on life is to just accept God’s Word for what is says, agreeing completely with God, and don’t try to reason it away with your mind. God’s Word is truth. The Bible does not say God’s Word is true, but truth. You may see things in the natural that are true, but God’s truth can change what is true in the natural if you just don’t question the Word of God. When you come to God’s Word you should say, “If God’s Word says it, I believe it, and that settles it.” So look to the Word and start seeing things from your new position in Christ, seated with Him at the right hand of God.

Victory Over Death

Colossians 2:13

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,…

One who is in Christ no longer resides in death (separation from God) for Jesus has forgiven us of our sin by becoming sin for us (removing what stood between us and God). We have been made alive together with Jesus Christ. You are one spirit with Him. God told Adam if he sinned he would die. Before Adam sinned all that God had made was good. After he sinned evil entered into the world through the death that came from man’s sin. Death (all that is not good) reigned in the earth and over man. Jesus has tasted death for all so that man could be restored to life by our union with Him, and now by faith in Christ we can reign in this life over death and all the evil that came as a result of that death. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Remove the taste of death from your mouth by speaking life, declaring what you now have in Christ. As a child of God death no longer has dominion over you. See yourself as one with Christ, victorious over death and all the evil that came as a result of that death, for you have been made alive with Christ. Death and evil no longer have dominion over you. Speak life!
