About Pastor Darryl Baker

My walk with Christ began in 1985 having received Jesus into my life at a Bible Study one night. I was a professional bull rider at the time and little did I know of all God had for me. Since that time my wife and I birthed the church we now pastor, Christian Faith Fellowship in Roanoke Texas. I have a passion for helping people become all they can be in Christ, and for raising up other ministers. I also travel and speak with a gift to teach the Word of God especially in the area of discipleship. There is nothing like seeing other people set free and growing in God. I am very blessed with some great spiritual fathers. Dr. Mark T. Barclay, Dr. Hilton Sutton, and Rev. Coy Huffman.

Reveal God’s Goodness

Philemon 1:6

…that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Once you are born again you have within you all that is good, because you have the very presence of God Himself residing in your spirit. To become effective in sharing your faith, acknowledge how good your God is. Don’t magnify the devil by focusing on and talking about what you may be facing in the natural; magnify the goodness of God within you by acknowledging all you have in Christ Jesus and what He has done for you. This is what walking by faith and not by sight is all about. When you walk by faith you do not look at what is seen or revealed to the senses, you look to the Word of God and stand in faith calling those things which do not exist as though they did. We don’t deny the natural realm, we just don’t magnify and focus our attention on it by talking about and confessing the problems. Instead we focus on the goodness of God by looking to God’s Word and magnifying and confessing the Word of God over our lives. This will change what you see in the natural and share your faith with those around you.

Strong In Grace

2 Timothy 2:1

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

The grace we have in Christ is able to bring great strength to the believer. Grace is help from heaven, what God is able to do in and through your life. The Word of God says that He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Pride is a result of focusing on yourself, your own will and what you want. Those who are humble are focused on God and what His will is for them. Those who are humble remain teachable, and therefore are always looking to God and His Word to learn from Him how to live life. One who is teachable is saying what God’s Word says about them and their circumstances, and is doing what scripture teaches them in how to live their life. One who does so is going to be strong in the grace of God, walking in the ability God gives to us. So keep your focus on God and His Word, speaking and acting upon what scripture teaches us, remain yielded unto His will and you will receive more grace (help from heaven).

Man’s Way or God’s

Proverbs 14:12

12 There is a way which seems right to a man,

But its end is the way of death.

There are two pathways when it comes to living our lives. There is the right way, which is God’s way, and then there is our way, the wrong way which will always end up in death. Death can refer to dying physically, but death also refers to the opposite of what is life, which is God Himself. The Word of God reveals that in Him is life. If you want to experience true life, a life full of all that God is and all that God has available to you, you must be willing to stop living life “your way” and be willing to do life God’s way. For example the first generation of the children of Israel cried out to God to deliver them from the bondage they were under in Egypt. God answers their cry and sends them a leader in Moses. He takes them out of Egypt and tries to get them to put their trust in Him. But time and again they rebelled, wanting to do things their own way. The end result was dying in the wilderness, which was not God’s plan as He had provided a whole new life for them with all they had need of. They never saw that promise land because they were not willing to trust God and do things His way. If you want to go the way of life and not death, then stop living life on your terms. God is so much smarter that us. Choose instead to live life His way and He will lead you out of death and into true life.

Called To Be Holy

2 Timothy 1:9

…who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

We are saved by grace through faith. Once we have been saved (born again), because of God’s grace (receiving what we did not deserve) we have a calling to be holy, which means set apart to God, for God is holy. In 2 Corinthian 7:1 we are told to cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God. This is what we do after we have been born again. The very reason one gives their life to Christ is to turn from the god of this world (satan) to be set apart from him and his ways unto God, walking in the example of Jesus Christ who has liberated us from the worlds destructive ways. The key here is don’t focus on what you need to be set apart from, focus on Who you are being set apart to and who you now are in Christ Jesus, the new nature on the inside. We are in the world but not of the world. Therefore don’t follow the worlds example, follow after Christ, looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith and you will live a holy life, free from the works of darkness, a life set apart unto Him.

The Giver of Good Gifts

James 1:17

17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

It is sad to hear of others who misinterpret scripture or just don’t know the truth of God’s Word. I recently heard someone who claimed that God being close to the broken hearted will with some break them through sickness, or difficult trials. But in fact James clearly states that God only has good and perfect gifts to give us, and never changes. Sickness, disease, hardships, are all a result of the fall of man. There was no such thing until satan convinced man to sin and then such things came into the earth. They were not here when God was done with creation. A broken heart refers to one who is repentant for wrong doing. Such people will always be close to God, for they will in repenting turn to Him, the One who gives good and perfect gifts!

Faith and Love

1 Timothy 1:14

…and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.

When we are born again there are two very important elements that we find in our relationship with Jesus Christ. They are faith and love. Once born again we are given a measure of faith, and the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts. God gives us these two new elements so that we can begin to live a whole new way of life. We are to learn how to walk by faith and walk in the love of God. We are to take the measure of faith God gives us and continue to develop and use our new faith. Simply put, faith believes in and acts as if the Word of God is true (because it is). Walking by faith is walking by what God’s Word says and not what your circumstances say. Feeding on the Word is vital to your faith walk for this is how faith continues to grow. But you must also act upon the Word to walk by the faith you have been given. We are also to walk in love, treating others the way we want to be treated no matter how they treat us. This too requires action on our part based on the love of God that is now in our hearts and not acting upon our fleshly outer man. Faith is dependent on this love for faith works through love. Receiving Christ as your Lord means to receive a whole new way to live your life here on earth. A life of faith and love.

Death of Life

Romans 8:6

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

How you view things in this life will be one of the key things that will determine whether you walk in death or life. Death refers to that which came as a result of sin and leads one to be separated from life, which refers to the God-kind of life (all He has provided for us through Jesus Christ). If we continue to live our lives with our minds governed by the way our flesh sees things and not the way God sees things, we will not experience the God-kind of life He has for us here. Stop seeing things in this life from the world’s viewpoint, instead see what God sees. Man sees sickness, God sees healing. Man sees defeat, God sees victory. Man sees hopelessness, God sees hope fulfilled because He sees all things through what Christ has done for you. Our minds are governed by what we choose to focus our attention on. You can choose to give your attention to seeing life through the flesh (man’s viewpoint); or you can choose to see things through the spirit (God’s viewpoint). The one you choose will determine what you walk in.
